A sustainable toothbrush, reimagined.

Handcrafted in Italy in collaboration with heritage design house Koh-i-Noor, the Laro × Koh-i-Noor Signature Toothbrush is an eco-friendly, ultra-soft toothbrush with natural fibres designed to elevate your daily oral care ritual while supporting enamel and gum health.

Its sculptural handle is made from Mazzucchelli’s M49 Bioplastic - a bio-based, biodegradable material derived from cellulose acetate and plant-based plasticisers. Designed to replace fossil-based plastics, it offers the durability and beauty of traditional acetate with a lighter environmental footprint.

Finished in a classic tortoiseshell, each toothbrush is polished by hand and made to last; a considered alternative to disposable plastic brushes.

The ultra-soft, natural bristles provide a gentle yet effective clean, helping to protect enamel, support gum health and maintain a balanced oral microbiome. By returning to natural materials, we prioritise comfort, performance and long-term oral health.

Why this matters

Most toothbrushes are made from single-use plastic and designed to be thrown away. This one isn’t.

By choosing a sustainable toothbrush made from biodegradable materials, you’re investing in a lower-impact alternative - without compromising on performance or design.

Customer Reviews

"I switched to Laro’s toothbrush because I wanted to reduce the amount of plastic and synthetic materials in my daily routine. The natural bristles feel noticeably softer and gentler than the nylon brushes I’d used for years, especially around my gumline. My mouth feels incredibly clean, but without the harsh, scratchy feeling I sometimes experienced before. It’s also such a beautiful object to use - one of those small upgrades that makes an everyday ritual feel much more thoughtful."

---

"Quite simply, it’s the most beautiful toothbrush I’ve ever owned. The tortoiseshell finish and craftsmanship make it feel more like a design object than an everyday essential. It has transformed something as ordinary as brushing my teeth into a ritual I genuinely look forward to.”

FAQs

What makes the Laro toothbrush different?

Created in partnership with Koh-I-Noor, our toothbrush is handcrafted in Italy and designed to be both functional and beautiful. The handle is made from a plant-based bioplastic, while the natural bristles offer a gentle brushing experience. It is an everyday object designed to be treasured rather than hidden away.

Why do you use natural bristles instead of nylon?

Most toothbrush bristles are made from nylon, a petroleum-derived plastic. We chose natural boar bristles as an alternative for those looking to reduce synthetic materials and microplastics in their daily routine. Many customers find them softer and gentler on the gums, while still providing an effective clean.

How should I care for my toothbrush?

Rinse thoroughly after each use and store upright in a well-ventilated area to allow the bristles to dry fully. As with any toothbrush, we recommend replacing it approximately every three months, or sooner if the bristles show signs of wear.

Are the bristles cruelty-free?

The bristles are made from natural boar hair sourced from established European suppliers with strict quality and animal welfare standards. No animals are raised specifically for the production of our toothbrush bristles.

We appreciate that natural fibres will not be the right choice for everyone, but we selected them as a thoughtful alternative to conventional nylon bristles for those seeking to reduce synthetic materials in their daily routine.
