Sustainability at Laro

Because we believe beauty starts deeper.

At Laro, sustainability is not a marketing claim - it’s our design brief.

Every product, partnership and process is built around a simple goal: to create oral care that cares - for you, and for the planet.

Materials & Formulations

We use natural, microbiome-supportive ingredients that are kind to both the mouth and the environment. Our fluoride-free formulations use biocompatible minerals such as hydroxyapatite - a safe, non-toxic alternative that supports tooth health without disrupting your oral microbiome.

We avoid harsh foaming agents, synthetic dyes, and artificial flavours. Every ingredient is selected for purity, function, and low environmental impact.

Our new biodegradable toothbrushes are made from the M49 bio-based bioplastic developed by Mazzucchelli (read more here) and we will continue to seek more innovative packaging and ingredient materials for our future product launches.

Packaging

We believe design and responsibility can co-exist.

Zero plastic packaging: our toothpaste is housed in endlessly recyclable aluminium tubes and our mouth rinse in glass bottles with aluminium caps.

We use paper-based outer boxes certified by the FSC, printed in the UK using vegetable inks.

We are continuously refining packaging to extend recyclability and durability, including our new biodegradable bioplastic toothbrushes.

Production & Sourcing

All Laro products are made in the UK in small batches, allowing us to maintain traceability and reduce waste.

We work with trusted suppliers who share our commitment to environmental and ethical standards - from our hydroxyapatite supplier in Europe to our packaging partners in the UK and Italy.

Carbon Responsibility

We offset our footprint through our partnership with Plastic Bank, supporting the removal of ocean-bound plastic and the creation of fair-wage recycling systems in vulnerable communities.

Our production and logistics are deliberately localised within Europe to minimise transportation impact, and we continue to explore carbon measurement and reduction frameworks for future certification.

Our founder Beth created Laro to give oral care it's deserving place at the center of daily beauty regimes.

Social Responsibility

We believe business should be restorative, not extractive.

Beyond plastic offsetting, we work with Greenspark to contribute to verified environmental and social impact projects that support reforestation and community-led clean-up efforts.

As a female-founded business, we are also committed to creating equitable opportunities for women across our supply chain and within our growing team.

Looking Ahead

Sustainability is not a destination - it’s a process.

In 2026, we aim to:

Introduce our refillable product options

Complete our Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) and publish key impact metrics

Begin our journey toward formal sustainability certification such as B Corp or Positive Luxury

We know true progress requires transparency, collaboration and constant improvement - and we’re committed to all three.
