The Hidden Hormones Story — Everyday Choices, Deeper Impact

The Hidden Hormones Story — Everyday Choices, Deeper Impact

A few weeks ago we went live with two incredible female founders — Jackie Lamyman from Made of More and Jackie Stapleton from Quiet Blue — to talk about something that sits quietly behind so many of our daily rituals: women's hormones and the products we use every day.

The conversation started with skincare, candles, and oral care — but quickly widened to a question we ask at Laro every day: what are we putting into and onto our bodies, and how might it shape our long-term health and hormonal balance?

Why hormone-safe products matter in daily routines

Hormones influence everything from mood and energy to skin clarity, sleep, metabolism, and long-term wellbeing. Yet so many beauty and self-care products still contain endocrine disruptors — chemicals that can interfere with our body’s natural hormonal signalling.

  • In skincare: synthetic fragrance, parabens, and certain preservatives can mimic oestrogen and disrupt hormone regulation.

  • In candles: conventional paraffin wax and synthetic scents can release hormone-disrupting chemicals into the air we breathe.

  • In toothpaste: foaming agents and harsh antibacterials like SLS (sodium lauryl sulfate) and triclosan can upset the oral microbiome and add to the body’s chemical burden.

The cumulative effect of daily products

A single product alone may seem harmless, but most of us use dozens every day — toothpaste, cleanser, moisturiser, SPF, deodorant, shampoo, home fragrance, cleaning sprays. Each one can contain trace levels of ingredients linked to hormone disruption. Over time these exposures layer and accumulate, making it harder for the body to maintain balance.

Switching even a few products to hormone-friendly, non-toxic alternatives can meaningfully lower this cumulative load — helping your body regulate itself and supporting long-term wellbeing.

How Laro fits into hormone-safe oral care

Our conversation wasn’t about fear — it was about awareness and empowerment. At Laro, we’re proud to make hormone-conscious oral care that’s safe, beautiful, and effective.

  • Our formulas are free from SLS, parabens, and triclosan — common hormone disruptors in mainstream toothpaste.

  • We use hydroxyapatite, a bio-compatible mineral, instead of fluoride to remineralise and strengthen enamel naturally.

  • Our packaging is zero plastic and designed for long-term sustainability.

For Made of More, it’s about midlife skin thriving without hidden disruptors.
For Quiet Blue, it’s about clean-burning candles free from synthetic fragrance.

A collective movement in conscious luxury

What became clear in our conversation is that we’re part of a bigger movement — one that values conscious, non-toxic luxury: products that feel beautiful to use but protect our health and planet.

Change doesn’t come from one product; it comes from small, thoughtful swaps that reduce the chemical load our bodies are asked to carry every day.
